Not that big of an adventure, but big enough for me! Christie and I met up at Tanglewood Park this past Sunday for a trail ride. There was a Yadkin Valley Hounds Hunter Pace going on the same day that we grappled with going....but I wimped out. Those rides can be tough! Since Skate and I haven't been off the farm for trailriding, I needed to start low-key to see how he would be.
He did NOT like trailering alone and hated getting off the trailer in a new place all alone even less. The screaming began : ) Luckily, even though he screams a lot, he doesn't really do anything else other than get tense. He still listens and stands still for me to tack up. Once I hopped on, he was fine.
Jay was the trusty lead horse for this trip...I figured he's the eventer, he can lead us across mud and muck, right? Yep...he handled that well and Skate was just fine, too. Now, stumps and logs, on the other hand, were apparently not Jay's favorite. He gave every one a hairy eyeball, which I think just meant he really wanted to jump them! Overall, it was a highly successful ride. Everyone was sane and well-behaved, with only one spook at the Pirahna Frog jumping into the river. No biggie.

Yay, great post about our ride! I had a lot of fun. You're not a wimp, though, for not doing the hunter pace! I thought it was a mutual decision! :)

Sounds like a great day! The weather was certainly right for a trail ride this weekend.
Alex - my dreams of eventing have again been dashed....for now! Turns out I didn't sign the second page of my Horsemasters application, so I couldn't join in the XC fun.
