Ugh! Saddle shopping is frustrating!!! I'm glad I didn't let myself fall in love with this saddle. It fits Andy great but not me. Its not something I can put my finger on either.....
The stirrups don't even out just right.
The leather isnt' super smooth so I feel like I stick.
The fenders are long and scratch the back of my heel.
I could go on and on but I know that I'm going to hate it. I will ride in it again tonight if I get time and the rain holds off to try it again but I'm pretty sure its not the saddle for me.
Thankfully I'm going to Asheville this weekend and so I will be able to shop at Jackson's. I will have to take pictures to show you the sheer number of saddles he has....its AWESOME. I plan on taking mine and hopefully getting a good trade out of the deal.
I know you guys ride english but what I'm looking for is a 16" Semi-QH bars cutting saddle.
Wish me some saddle luck this weekend......

Oh MAN do I FEEL your pain! Ugh! Saddle shopping really IS frustrating! I hope you can find something that you both love. (And I so wish I was going to Asheville!!!)
I am taking Jay back to Rocking B on Saturday to continue my saddle saga. Sigh...
Good luck saddle shopping. I can't decide if it's harder or easier to find a good fitting western saddle compared to english. It seems like there's a lot less variation in western, but what if you have a funny shaped horse?
Christie, come one with me! I am staying at the Grove Park Inn!! I promise to take pictures.
Good Luck on Saturday!
Andrea, there are actually tons of different types of western saddles. You can't alter their flocking like you can english though. You have to do all your adjustments with padding.
Oh wow, the Grove Park Inn! I am seriously jealous now! I went to UNC-A for three years, and I really love it up there, and miss it!
Before you get too excited. Its my step-sister's graduation and she works there so we get a HUGE discount. My mom and step dad are picking up the bill so I will come up there. LOL I have heard a lot about it but have never been.
I, too, HATE saddle shopping. What a hassle and its such a crapshoot on what will work for both of you!
Good luck!
I've stayed at the Grove Park twice now (birthday presents!) and its neat. The spa is Awesome.
LOL, I don't think it matters too much how you get to stay there! I would love to go. The closest I have come is going over there to walk around with some friends when we were in college. Woohoo, LOL. Of course since we lived there at the time we couldn't really justify staying there, but I would love to sometime.
Where is she graduating from? Have a good time...hopefully you will be able to get some horsey stuff in, too. (At least saddle shopping! And yes, take pics!)
Christie, anytime you want to go my step-sister can make the reservations. I think its $90/night instead of $400/night.
UNC-A?? I have no clue. We aren't that close. Our parents married after we were adults so we didn't really bond.
Cross your fingers for me and I will cross mine for you!
Oooh, Grove Park Inn! Fun!
Keep us posted on the saddle shopping experience! I love shopping for new saddles! (Although I rarely like the price tag that comes with it!)
