Ok, this ride actually took place several weeks ago, but I've been so bogged down with school and finals that I haven't been able to blog about it until now.
Pepsi was very up that day, which I much prefer rather than having to get him forward and off my leg. However, he does seem to think on occasion still that just because he's got energy means he doesn't have to listen. Silly horsey.
So, off we go into the ring, and he immediately spots the CUTE little 4 year old that Christina (the barn's trainer) is working. Well, being the socialite that Pepsi is he simply MUST go meet this new little critter, and since I'm not too keen on that idea, then he must devise some sort of diabolical plan to get rid of me. (Ok, not really- he just likes to scare the little children who crowd the fence and impress them by making them all think that I'm this SPECTACULAR rider simply because I can stay on the crazy critter. *snort* If only they knew that the horse is all fuss and no fight!)
Anyway, we spent the next thirty minutes working on canter transitions and ignoring other ponies in the ring, and all the while he kept throwing fits and tantrums by bucking and snorting and squealing. So Christina finally stops working her horse and pulls up in the center of the ring to watch us. She starts laughing and says "He looks like a wild Mustang!" (You must remember that Pepsi's mane is long since he's a pasture puff and HATES flies, and he is VERY typical Morgan in the short & stocky-build way, so he actually DOES resemble a Mustang when he's in one of his moods.)
I told her thank you very much, and would you like to ride him? I told her when I got my license we could start trading massages for training rides, and she said that was a great idea.
So, the wild mustang will soon be getting training rides, and not just my fat ass up on top of him.
Oh, and we ended up working for another 15 minutes until he was nice and responsive and completely ignored the other horses.

Glad to hear about Pepsi again! Yay for pushing through his tantrums and making him focus! What a naughty boy. :)
Hey, the trade sounds like a good deal! Yay for the last 15 minutes, too. It is good to hear from you again, I've been wondering how things are going!
