Skate's on a Roll

of being a good little guy. I rode Friday and today, just working on rhythm and relaxation. He's doing really well at the walk and trot, which makes me desperate to move on to the canter. I know it will only end in tenseness and annoyance, so I keep ignoring my evil side telling me to just canter already!

I did take the beast out for our first ride outside the ring. He was great, although we only did about 10 min of quick hacking about. I didn't want to test his nerve just yet, so we turned around before we got to the evil junction box (this thing is the bane of all horses - I think it makes a scary buzzing sound imperceptible to humans!).

All in all, Skate was great : )

I know, I have got to get pics and videos.

It sounds like things are going great. You will be cantering around soon enough. We do DEMAND pics and video of this adorable pony though!!

Glad you guys are still getting along well. :) Waiting to canter will be worth it, I'm sure!

Yes - pictures and videos. Lots!

I think you're doing fine sticking with the walk and the trot for now. If it's any help, Gayle just had me canter Pro last week (in our lesson) and she hasn't had us do that in practically forever. So don't worry. :) Cantering can wait!

And great job on the first trail ride!
