Boo! He wasn't so good tonight!
So...here's a super short video of Skate doing his best giraffe impression. He managed to get his tongue over the bit tonight and was just generally fussy after that.
Some things that came from the video: I had no clue my reins were flopping in the wind! Geez. And I knew my shoulders weren't back, per say, but I had no idea I looked like a hunchback. Oh, and can I get any less bend in my elbows? And...I think I could stand to shorten my stirrups a hole, what do y'all think?
On a good note: we were discussing show names for him - basically coming up with anything related to skating - and we stumbled upon the best name ever:
Pony Hawk!
hee hee...that's only funny if you've heard of the skateboarder Tony Hawk!

Haha, awesome, I love it. Guess it was just a giraffe sort of evening, Pro had his head up and nose out most of our ride too.
If you think that's a giraffe face...you seriously need to come and meet Pro.
I think he's adorable!!! And don't you just love the effects of video on your self-esteem? :) I like the name!
You can tell he is trying to come onto the bit. It takes time, he will get on the bit, and then come up, and then on and off.
Videos are great for seeing how you are riding. Make sure the outside rein is steady and that will help him.
I think it looks good! He is very cute!
I don't think that was bad at ALL. Your shoulders aren't as bad as you think!
I would try landing lighter. Think hot potato. When you come down pop back up and push him forward. This will encourage his back to come up and his nose to get soft and anti-giraffe.
I forgot to mention.... I LOVE the show name!!!!
I second the light posting!! It really helps Pro.
Another thought is that he needs time to get his back strong before he can maintain a good frame. But you can definitely see him trying - I don't think it's not from "I don't want to!" but more of a "Hmmm, is this what you want? Yeah that's hard, I'll try that again in a little bit." He definitely looks willing.
Yeah, my instructor has stressed the light landing --- it's so hard for me to do! He is more of a forward mover, not a lot of suspension, so he doesn't pop you out of the saddle much. It's hard for me to not grip with my thighs and sit lightly. I wonder if shortening my stirrups a whole would help with that...but them I'm relying on them too much!
I didn't think that was that bad, either. He is definitely trying. What a good pony!
I definitely like the show name!
