Yes well, we already know that Pro has a fantastic horse booty. :) However, he finally has another kind of back - his actual back!!! Thursday's ride was great. He softened up quickly and within 10 minutes was chewing and stretching out his neck. I think he's slowly realizing that if he just LISTENS to me (and Andrea), it feels good! He always has the same reaction when he truly gets into a rhythm with stretching and unkinking his neck - he's always got that "yeaaaah, this is good!" look on his face, and he just feels happy.
We did a lot of square turns at the walk, spiraling in and spiraling out, working on getting me to let go of my inside rein. At the trot I repeated the spiraling and letting go of the inside rein and once he felt pretty warmed up, I was just thrilled. He keeps passing the "Pre"-sage stage of dressage so much more quickly these days! Eventually I decided to test out some sitting trot, and I really couldn't believe how much different he feels these days. Remember the comparison pictures and the difference in how much more "up" his back is now? It feels amazing!!! FINALLY, Pro is giving me a place to sit. This is what real sitting trot feels like. He has the musculature and strength to support me now, and it's wonderful.
I'm just SO pleased with him. :)

Glad he was good for you! I didn't ride tonight because I was still exhausted from Thurs and today at work, but I'm committed to riding post-work tomorrow!
Yay Pro!!! Im so happy that he is getting better and better. I need to come ride him and feel the difference.
That's awesome! Its nice to feel your hard work is paying off - especially when its so obvious. Dressage can seem so dang slow sometimes, and I find myself wondering when I'm going to feel any improvement.
Have faith, Ellen! :) It's long and slow but it's SO hugely rewarding when you finally start to see progress.

Oh man, I LOVE those "clouds part, angels sing" moments of sitting trot! Congrats on such a wonderful ride!
It is SO awesome to hear the wonderful progress that Pro is making! He is really coming along! YAY!
