Kate & Pro

He was pretty good on Monday. It was dark and cold by the time I got out but I've been so good so far about keeping my resolution to ride unless it's bad weather (haha, it's only midway through January). I noticed at the trot he was trying to get away with faking coming through - very interesting. He was like, "Look at me stretch" but he was only just meeting the bit, rather than coming through. If I bumped him with my inside leg and put my inside hand forward he said oh yeah, whoops, I'm supposed to really stretch. So hopefully I got rid of that.

I realized the other day that I never posted his most recent confo shot - here it is!!! I'm including an old one for comparison. I know it's hard to compare without the shiny summer coat in the earlier picture, but can anyone see a difference? ;)

HAHA, I have that picture saved on my computer for some reason.

He looks much better. Just seeing his posture, foot placement would be amazing but if you look at muscle development of his neck, shoulders, back, stomach and hips....its just beautiful.

Glad he didn't fool you.

You have it from the confo thread! ;) Imagine what they'd say NOW!

His neck obviously jumps out at me first, because of the now-existing topline and disappearance of the underneck. The middle neck hasn't quite filled in yet, but Gayle said that takes the longest.

I couldn't believe how much tighter his "abs" look, you're right. And look how much more "UP" his back is!! I'm so excited to post another conformation shot this spring once he's all glossy.

I know - I wish I had a better foot picture from back then, I'll have to dig. He no longer stands over at the knee, though! Turns out that was a trimming issue instead of bone structure.

Thats right!

Look at the top of his hip in the first pic. He almost has a hunters bump and then look at the recent pic. SO much better. I would say that his hip angle has changed some.

In the first pic I would call him a little post legged in the back but you can't say that now! He looks so much better and more comfortable.

Woo hoo - He's gotten a ghetto pony bootie! And I am amazed at the over at the knee change - I never woulda thunk it was a foot issue as opposed to a true conformation fault. The neck looks a gazillion times better - goodbye under neck muscles.

Well done, ladies!

WOW, Kate!! Ive known Pro for a long time but seeing two pictures side by side really confirms how much he has changed.

Look at his hip! He has alot more muscle and it is rounder and doesnt drop off like in the first pic. Not to mention his legs and how he isnt over the knee. He doesnt have a giaffe neck anymore either! And of course his mane is more beautiful now!

Great job, to you and Gail

ps. I told you he had a nice round bootie. Thats why I made it bigger in the ornament I made for you.

WOW, that is an awesome difference! The neck is the most obvious thing right off the bat, but there is a ton more than that! Yay that correct trimming resolved his being over at the knee. That is just awesome.

I really wish I could get up with Gayle. I guess I will have to try again since it was just a communication breakdown before, and not that the farm owner in GSO didn't want me to come!!!

Thanks guys!!! Since I see him everyday, it's often hard for me to be able to judge how much change has taken place until I put an old picture next to a new one. Not to mention that his riding has improved SO much as well.

The attitude...well, that'll take awhile. ;) Slow but steady progress there!

Hearing everyone's excitement on the changes just made my day. :) That's why I love this blog!
