Bath Time for Deuce & Update About Lease Horses

Well, the open wound on my arm I got when departing from the potential lease horse in Asheville finally healed enough for me to go back to the barn and do something! (It was pretty bad, 2" by 4" and like a burn with pustules and more scrapes around that. I didn't want it to get infected...I'm really not that much of a wimp!)

I felt bad that my "pony" didn't get hosed every day during that awful hot spell we had. So I decided to give him the spa treatment last night!

I gave Deuce a real honest to goodness scrub down BATH! He went to sleep while I was scrubbing him.

The lease horse in Asheville was placed with someone else. I have not heard back about the other horse, but I had been told by the owner I was in her top two. That mare was quite remarkable when I test rode her back in April. She had evented through Training level and had done tons of other stuff. The owner had told me she was going to decide who would get the mare May 31st so she could deliver the horse sometime the first two weeks in June, though, and she has not responded to my email asking about her decision. So I am guessing that I was not chosen. :( That horse would have been awesome to really get me going again. I think things happen for a reason, even though I am really disappointed. I will keep my options open in case I can find another made horse to lease.

For right now I will keep working with Deuce, and I am still looking for a good instructor that isn't too far away. Any good suggestions near Winston-Salem? I am considering sending Deuce for training, too.

I'm not quite sure what we're looking at in this picture, but I think I got almost as wet as Deuce! By the time he was nice and dry, it was too late to get a good picture. I wonder what he will look like when I get there tonight! :)

Deuce is so cute, what color is he? He looks so clean, good job on the bath!

I had a situtation very similar to yours. I went to look at a horse, and told her I wanted to buy him. She had another girl coming the next day. That girl also wanted him. The owner said she needed a few days to choose. Two weeks later (and after many unanswered emails and calls) she emails me and tells me that she has decided to keep him. Im still mad at her. I wasted alot of time and money to go see the horse.

This lady should have at least let you know and not leave you hanging. How rude!

OMG! You washed all his "PAINT" off. LOL

Too bad you aren't closer, I have been thinking about leasing Baron. :(

I love the way horses look and feel right after a bath. However, after owning one paint and one gray mare I'm sort of hoping to stick to the ones that start off brown from now on.

Deuce is a red roan overo! Look REALLY close in the last picture and you can see his cute little medicine hat.

Alex, ROFLMAO! I wish I could find a good one like Baron.

The person leasing that awesome mare is in the military and teaches ethics, honor and integrity, so I thought she would let me know something like she said she would! I mean, this was a big deal, and I had to write an essay and give my life history! She also said applicants would be considered as received, and I was the first to look at the horse. I last heard from her May 23 and she said she would be in touch, and I gave her to June 8 and emailed her, figuring she might have taken a little longer to decide. Now, however, I'm thinking she's off delivering the mare to someone else. :( Sorry for the rant!

Deuce is so precious! I know he enjoyed the bath. I went out to the barn early yesterday and Artie looked HORRIBLE -- sweating, head hung down, miserable. I immediately grabbed a halter and the hose. He perked up almost immediately. Then he decided to roll. *dies*

He looks very clean!!! Thanks for adding in some pictures with the post. :)

If you're considering sending him for training, you should really think about Gayle - she's in Hurdle Mills. I think she's expensive (not sure what she charges) but I would send Pro to her place in a heartbeat if I had the money.

Thanks for the suggestion Kate...I need to find out how much she charges. She's about two hours from me, too.

You're welcome for the pictures! :)

Deuce has been nice to me and has actually stayed pretty clean! :)
