I went out to ride last night around 8pm. Hobbes wasn't terribly interested in coming in to get worked...which is the first time he's EVER been like that. Normally he is perfectly happy working. I think it was probably just a herd dynamics thing...we were walking in from the back corner of the pasture (I love that he's out in a huge pasture, but I freaking hate that he's always in the back corner when I go out there!) and one of the herd leaders decided to follow us in...so I drove him away with the lead rope. He then stopped and Hobbes figured he'd better stop, too. So I had to drive Hobbes forward with the lead rope. My lead rope got a workout ; )
As for the ride, it was pretty uneventful. Hobbes hadn't been worked since last Wednesday, so he was tuning me out more than usual...but it was cool by then, so he was pretty forward. Nice to work on sitting a forward trot, instead of his usual shuffle, trip, shuffle, stumble...PICK UP YOUR FEET!
We then had a serious beauty shop appointment. Hobbes' got a haircut....now he looks like a show pony again. His mane and tail are growing ridiculously fast now that he's eating BOSS. Love the tail growth, but I'm tired of pulling his mane!
Anyhoo...the owners of Nines keep pushing out the appt for me to come back. Last Thursday they had some 'unexpected company' and last night Nines was footsore from too short of a trim. One more delay and I'm gonna get suspicious.

Well, I'm sorry to hear about Nines but I think you're right...if they delay again I wouldn't go back.
I'm glad to hear Hobbes was up though! Yay for forward movement!
Glad you had a good forward ride! :) It sounds like Hobbes was reluctant to come in because of the interference from the boss horse.
I hope things work out with Nines, and I think they will if he is meant to be the one for you. I don't blame you for getting suspicious if they delay again!

I would wonder what was going on with Nines. Maybe the things they are saying are true, but you cant help to wonder. This is another reason to get a vet check, to remove all doubt! When have you set up your next appt?

WHERE are the pictures of Hobbes' new beautiful look?!?! I want to see how fancy he looks now! Maybe he needs a week off between each ride to be nice and peppy. :) Hmmm...maybe that's his PLAN...
