I rode on Sunday, but it was more of a "let's play at the walk". I did a small bit of trotting, and even one canter transition, but that was it. Pro peered at the area where the poles used to be, but really didn't give too much of an effort. Erik really didn't want me riding since he didn't understand how I could "just walk". Silly boy...there's a lot you can do at the walk! Practicing the halt transition, walk-halt-walk, shoulder-fore on a circle, figure-eight smooth changes of direction, etc. Lots to play with.
Erik's niece (just turned two) also came out to visit "Pro pony". She recognizes him in pictures, has a stuffed "Pro pony" doll, and says "petty pony" when she sees his picture. Sure enough, she recognized him when we pulled him out of his stall!! She wasn't quite exactly sure about *riding* Pro pony, so she didn't last too long, but apparently she kept wanting to see the pictures of her riding once she got home later that day. Pro took it like a champ. :)
Stay cool, guys...it's AWFUL out there!

What a good Pro pony!!
You can do TONS at the walk. Apple and I are on vet instruction to start getting him a little more fit for his injections. :(
Thank goodness for ring lights! I am working all mine after 8pm!
What a cute pic! Isn't it funny that Pro is so silly/spooky sometimes, yet he is an angel when you put a babe on his back!
That just proves he's faking his insecurity : )
YAY! Good Pro pony! Let's get the next generation of equestrians hooked early! :P And there is a LOT you can do at the walk!
Yup, mucho you can do at the walk! I'm glad Pro pony was such a good boy!
Feel free to share any walk exercises, everyone. :) Pro starts lateral work in his lesson with Andrea today, so that's MORE stuff!!
Hahaha Gabby - I know!! I think it has something to do with the general "babysitting" tendency some horses get...he stays quiet for Erik...but also, when I push him to work hard, he starts pulling out his spooking as an evasion tactic. Erik lets him amble so he's thrilled, but with me, well...we can't let things be easy for Mom! ;)
