Dare and Mandros 07/12

I rode Mandros Saturday, and although it was really hot, he did really well. I meant to bring the camera out, but forgot.

I was able to work on the sitting trot and it went really well. I used a metronome attached to the saddle to help me keep the same rhythm in the sitting trot as the rising trot. Alot of times the trot will slow down as I sit it. I usually do this because his trot is SO bouncy. Anyway, his owner/my instructor saw some of the sitting trot and said it looked really good.

His canter was really nice but he did break a couple times to the left. When I feel him start to break, I usually just try to push him on, but I realized that he always comes out of the frame to break stride. So the next time he tried to break, I kept asking him to stay round, and he didnt break. It was really hot, so once he cantered a full 20 meter circle without breaking, we stopped and I let him cool out. It was a pretty good ride, but just needs to get back in shape.

What a great observation! Where you noticed that he always breaks frame before he breaks stride. It's little realizations like that one that are always so rewarding.

Awwww, the metronome!!! :) I remember that!

I agree...great observation! It's so much better to correct when he breaks frame, it will keep him working more properly with less chance of actually breaking stride!
