So today I had Erik take quite a few videos. Pro was pretty good. No foam, but I think it's because we only rode for about 20-30min so he really didn't have enough time. Or maybe I'm making that up, who knows. But he was still soft and responsive, so that's what matters to me. He really takes about 45min to get truly warmed up. It was just too darn humid tonight.
None of the videos are perfect ;) but you can see make a valid attempt to return my inside rein to a "giving reward state" and then neutral after that. Pro looks really good in all the videos. Me...well...first we fix Pro, then we fix me! ;) Gayle said fixing Pro has been our #1 priority, and we're slowly fixing me along the way. But I'm just pleased that Pro looks SO good lately. And he feels absolutely fantastic.
Here's a video of our trot-walk transitions, focusing on not letting him pull lean on the reins during the transition. Yeah I know, my sitting trot needs work. But I think it was a fairly good attempt, and he stays quiet throughout. Check out those ears - tuned into Mom!!!
This is just some posting trot work.
Here's some cantering (still trying to focus on keeping my inside hand forward when not "in use"...so ignore my really crappy rocking motion, aaaargh bad habits returning when I try to concentrate on new things!!!). It's a pretty decent downward trot transition as well.
Okay, WHEW. These videos took a loooong time to upload. Hopefully everyone enjoys the multimedia fun-ness in this post! :) And since Erik and I just went out and ran tonight as well...I'm going to go crash. Enjoy him tomorrow, Andrea!

yea videos!! He looks good. Nice transitions
Oooh, multimedia fun-ness! Yay!
I also loved the videos. You don't look bad at all btw- funny how we're our own harshest critics.
I will say though- a lot of times I find that if I drop my stirrups when I'm working on something new my body automatically 'grips' better so I'm not moving around so much. If you truly feel that you're rocking too much, you can always try it!
Pro is ADORABLE!!
YAY! Videos! Looking good, both of you! Pro wouldn't be going so nicely if you were doing something horrible up there, Mom! We are our own harshest critics, for sure!
He looks really good. He looks like he's got the softness down, now we need to start getting him soft and forward! :)
Thanks guys!!! Yup, we're always our own worst critic. It's hard not to be picky when Gayle and I have spent so much time working on Pro and only a small fraction working on me, unless it relates directly to something he needs. Well, I know that *all* good equitation is functional, but still...stuff that he needs right at that second.
I could definitely use a ME lesson on a schoolmaster!!!
Mary - I like that idea! I'll give that a try this week, specifically at the canter to see if it helps.
