Kate & Pro - 7/19

It was reeeeally hot on Saturday and Erik and I had to get out to the barn around noon, so our ride wasn't long. Actually, holding a conversation with Erik while I rode seemed to help...maybe it was that it helped me keep breathing constantly, and relaxing? I tend to hold my breath sometimes when I get focused. (And no...I made sure it wasn't breath-holding that's causing my dizziness, checked that off the list a long time ago, sadly).

Anyway, Pro was really good. I showed Erik how Pro and I now have disagreements (in a conversation "tone") instead of fights where we "yell". I also showed off our great no-pull transitions. He's still not staying 100% round through the downward transitions, but we'll work on that. My sitting trot feels better these days, so I'm more comfortable pushing him forward. And I'm trying to make a bigger effort to consciously remember to check impulsion more often, so we don't fall into the too slow trap.

We cantered briefly in each direction, and he felt pretty decent. A big buck on the first canter depart, so we had to return to a walk, "chill" for a few seconds, and try again. He tends to anticipate a lot. After a really good canter, we walked out and he got his nice end-of-ride carrot. :) This Wednesday is another Gayle lesson!!!

It sounds like you and Pro have disagreements, not fights. Both of you are very opinionated ;)

If Erik was there, where are the pictures/videos?

We are both opinionated redheads, yes. Dangerous combination. :)

Haha...I think we were both too hot to take pictures. I don't know, I think I was more relaxed without the camera? By the time we remembered it was in the car, Pro had been such a good boy that I wanted to end the ride there.

Next time!!!

I'm impressed w/ the number of pics you DO get!

No one ever takes pics of me!

"Conversational" disagreements are definitely better than yelling! :)

We do miss the pics, but will forgive you...THIS time! *grin*

I must say that this blog has helped my picture taking, until recently anyway. I am so sad about the relatively few number of pictures I have of Sam and some of my other "kids." I was just thinking last night, too, that I sure wish I had before and after pictures of Deuce's feet!

Yes, disagreements are always better than all-out yelling. I'm glad you and Pro are starting to compromise fairly quickly now!
